Love’s Creative SPARKS! Awards

The Love’s Creative SPARKS! Awards were created in 2010 by Creative Oklahoma, which then recruited Love’s, A+ Schools and OPUBCO to assist in the development of the awards program. The awards recognize students with creative ideas who use their imagination to envision a more creative learning environment that can be put into action in their school community. Students are asked to complete a written application form.

This award is made possible because of the Oklahoma based company, Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores. “Love’s is proud to support the mission of Creative Oklahoma and especially the Creative SPARKS! Award. We encourage creative thinking and solutions to improve schools in our home state of Oklahoma. We look forward to reviewing the entries from talented students this year!,” said Jenny Love Meyer, Vice President of Communications for Love’s.

2015-2016’s Theme: Oklahoma Creative Communities

Creativity, defined as the “generation of ideas that have value,” is a basic human capacity that we all possess. New, fresh, creative ideas are constantly needed to resolve some of the most pressing issues. Creative Oklahoma is challenging Oklahoma students of all ages to start using their abilities now to offer their ideas for solutions to problems they see within their classrooms, schools, and community environments. The Love’s Creative SPARKS! award will grant cash prizes to the students who submit the most innovative ideas.  Any funds received will be a call to action for the students and school to work together to make the idea a reality.

This year’s Love’s Creative SPARKS! theme is Oklahoma Creative Communities. Creative Oklahoma encourages the creative development of students throughout their lives, especially during their time in Oklahoma classrooms. Creativity, critical thinking, communications, and collaboration are all important skills essential to compete in the 21st century. They are also vital to ensuring strong economic growth and quality of life for all Oklahoma communities.

To be considered for the Love’s Creative SPARKS! awards, students will need to submit an application on the Newspapers in Education (NIE) website. Use these 4 lessons to help your students SPARK their creativity and create their submission. Entries can be in the form of digital images or written proposals.

Students and teachers, this is your chance to us your creativity to make a difference!

Submissions are now closed. Thank you so much for all your submissions!

Thank you to our partners: Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores, Newspapers in Education – The Oklahoman and Oklahoma A+ Schools.
